Suicide (Prevention) in the LGBTQ+ Community

Jun 08, 2022

Event Time: 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Virtual

Suicide is a significant public health concern, and individuals who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) are at increased risk for suicide. Risk for suicide stems, in large part, from experiences of minority stress, such as discrimination, harassment, and rejection due to one’s identities.

Join Ph.D. candidate and adjunct faculty member Andréa Kaniuka from the University of North Carolina to learn about suicide rates among the LGBTQ+ community, risk and protective factors specific to the LGBTQ+ community, and the role of community members and professionals in LGBTQ+ suicide prevention and intervention.

Registration is $25 per person. For payment details, please download the June webinar invoice here.

Continuing education will be provided for prevention, addiction counseling, social work, marriage and family counseling, and psychologists.
