Ohio loses five people a day to suicide. But when we say suicide is a crisis, it’s about more than numbers – it’s about helping the thousands of people who are struggling to find healing, joy, and peace in their lives. Time and time again, when we talk to those who have experienced suicidal thoughts or survived an attempt, they share that art helped them through their darkest moments. It’s true that when you feel lost, disconnected, or hopeless that creating something, whether it be music, painting, or poetry, is a powerful way to express who you are, share your story, and recognize the impact you make on the world around you.
To honor all of the creative and strong individuals who we work with every day, and the memory of those who are no longer with us, the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation (OSPF) is hosting the second annual Art of Healing Benefit on September 7, 2023, at the Fives in Columbus. The Art of Healing Benefit for Suicide Prevention will feature an exciting lineup of guest speakers, an art exhibit featuring work by survivors and advocates, and a silent auction.
Please join us for this formal event dedicated to breaking the stigma of suicide through the healing power of art.
